Aspect Ratio adjustment is a very common video editing task. When Hollywood put a movie on VHS video tape of DVD, there are normally two versions. One is "normal", which has the sides chopped off from the original wide screen movie (called "Pan and Scan"), and the other is "wide", which adds black bars on the top and the bottom (called "Letterbox").
With some of the new media, like DVD, the pixels may not be square anymore. For example, the NTSC DVD's resolution is 720x480, and it can be either 16x9 or 4x3, with the same pixels. This introduces more confusion unless you are an expert in the video editing field.
River Past Video Perspective is designed to help regular folks to handle this task. A couple of simple combo box is all you need to tell how the video's aspect ratio is handled, and the preview window would display how the video looks after the conversion. It is that simple.
Input Flexibility
River Past Video Perspective supports a wide range of input file formats.
We even support Apple's QuickTime files (.mov and .qt). This is the only software which can convert MOV to AVI or WMV correctly.
Output Control
You have the full control over the output file format. For AVI, you can define the codec, video size, frame rate, audio sample rate, channel, resolution, and bitrate. For WMV, you can choose from a list of pre-defined profiles, targeted at different usages.

Often, a video file would work in one software but misbehave in another. A quite common problem is that the video and audio are out of sync.
We repair the timecode if we see any problems. Sometimes, it is the only way to get a video accepted and encoded correctly by DVD authoring software.
