DVR-MS to DIVX: Convert Video from DVR-MS(Microsoft Digital Video Recordin) to DIVX(DivX Video) with River Past Video Cleaner, DVR-MS2DIVX converter, conversion
What is
DVR-MS?
DVR-MS (Microsoft Digital Video Recording) is a proprietary video and audio file format, developed by Microsoft. Video is encoded using the MPEG-2 standard and audio using MPEG-1 Layer II or Dolby Digital AC-3 (ATSC A/52). The format extends these standards by including metadata about the content and digital rights management. The extension was originally used by Zach Johnson who at the time was a developer for the television recording engine for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition.
To convert DVR-MS video to other formats with River Past software, please
have GPL MPEG-2
Decoder installed.
What is
DIVX?
DivX is a brand name of products created by DivX, Inc. (formerly DivXNetworks, Inc.),
including the DivX Codec
which has become popular due to its ability to compress lengthy video segments into small
sizes while maintaining relatively high visual quality. The DivX codec uses lossy MPEG-4 Part 2 compression, also known as MPEG-4
ASP, where quality is balanced against file size for utility. It is one of several codecs
commonly associated with "ripping", whereby audio and video multimedia are transferred to a hard disk and transcoded.
Many newer "DivX Certified" DVD players are able to play DivX encoded movies,
although the Qpel and global motion compensation features
are often omitted to reduce processing requirements. They are also excluded from
the base DivX encoding profiles for compatibility reasons.
To convert video to divx please make sure the divx
codec is installed.

Select output format
Use the setting panel on the bottom of the window to control the output format. Click on the toggle to the left of the "Output Format" label to expand the panel. Select "Divx ;)" as the "File Type".
To convert to DivX video, you must have DivX Codec installed.
Change Video Settings
Click on the toggle to the left of the "Video Settings" label to expand the panel.
Select "Specify" under "Size" and/or "Frame rate" to enter the video resolution and/or frame rate.
You can change the compressor, quality, size, and frame rate of the video.
You can also specify the bitrate for the video so you can control the file size. To set the bitrate, click on the "More" button.
Control the bitrate with the "Average bitrate" settings. Normally, the higher bitrate will give you better quality and faster conversion time.
Change Audio Settings
Click on the toggle to the left of the "Audio Settings" label to expand the panel.
Select the audio compressor for the conversion. Depending on the compressor, you may also change the sample rate, channel (stereo or mono), bits/sample, and bitrate.
Do not use "MPEG Layer-3" as the audio compressor. It does not work correctly in video files and often causes the conversion to abort in the middle. If you prefer to have MP3 audio in the AVI file, download lame_enc.dll instead.
Select output directory
Expand the "Output Directory" panel. Use the "Browse" button to select an output directory.
Convert
Click the "Convert" button on the tool bar.
