RM to Archos: Convert RM(RealMedia) video to Archos with River Past Crazi Video

What is RM?

A streaming technology developed by RealNetworks for transmitting live video over the Internet. RealVideo uses a variety of data compression techniques and works with both normal IP connections as well as IP Multicast connections.

To convert RealMedia to other formats with River Past software, please have Real Alternative installed. If the RM file was encoded with AC-3 audio, you may also need to install AC-3 Decoder Filter.

Launch Crazi Video

Install Crazi Video, launch Crazi Video.

Add File

Click on the "Add" button on the tool bar. The standard file open dialog appears. Select "RM - ReadlMedia" in its "Files of type" combo box.

Select the file you want to convert and click "Open". The file will be added to the conversion file list.

Note: To convert from RM files, you must have Real Alternative installed.

Select archos Output

Click on the toggle in front of "Output Format" to expand the panel.

Select "Archos" as the device type.

Change individual file settings

Select the file in the conversion list. An additional panel "Convert File" appears.

Click on the toggle to expand the panel.

If you want to extract the audio from the video, select "Audio" as the "Media Type".

The aspect ratio is retrieve from the original video file. In some cases, this value may be incorrect. To change it, you can either select from the list, or type in a value.

Select output directory

Expand the "Output Directory" panel. Use the "Browse" button to select an output directory.

If you have Archos connected, select "Copy Files to Device Directly". Crazi Video will find your Archos player and copy the converted files to the appropriate directories for playback.

You can also set the Sync Option to "Do not Sync", and manage the files yourself.

Convert

Click the "Convert" button on the tool bar.
