RM to DV: Convert Video from RM(RealMedia) to DV(Digital Video Cassette) with River Past Video Cleaner, RM2DV converter, conversion
What is
RM?
A streaming technology developed by RealNetworks
for transmitting live video over the Internet. RealVideo
uses a variety of data compression techniques and works with both normal IP
connections as well as IP Multicast connections.

To convert RealMedia to other formats with River Past software, please
have Real Alternative installed.
If the RM file was encoded with AC-3 audio, you may also need to install
AC-3 Decoder Filter.
What is
DV?
The format was first called DVC (as in Digital
Video Cassette), later it was called simply DV. It is used in many consumer
and professional grade digital camcorders.
Digital video (DV) can be captured from a DV camcorder, stored in a file
on the user's computer, or stored on tape using a video tape recorder (VTR).
On Windows, DirectShow based DV capture program normally capture the DV into
an AVI file. However, QuickTime
based software would generally create a .DV file without the AVI header.
To convert video to DV, please have Apple QuickTime is
installed.
Launch River Past Video Cleaner
Once River Past Video Cleaner is installed properly, launch Video Cleaner.
Add File
Click on the "Add" button on the tool bar. The standard file open dialog appears. Select "RM - ReadlMedia" in its "Files of type" combo box.
Select the file you want to convert and click "Open". The file will be added to the conversion file list.
Note: To convert from RM files, you must have Real Alternative installed.
River Past Video Cleaner
Select output format
Use the setting panel on the bottom of the window to control the output format. Click on the toggle to the left of the "Output Format" label to expand the panel. Select "DV - Digital Video" as the "File Type".
Unlike most other formats, you will need to select the "TV Standard" for the video. Select either "NTSC" or "PAL".
Change Video Settings
Click on the toggle to the left of the "Video Settings" label to expand the panel.
For "NTSC", the video will be 720x480 at 29.97 fps. For "PAL", the video will be 720x576 at 25 fps.
Change Audio Settings
Click on the toggle to the left of the "Audio Settings" label to expand the panel.
You may only change the sample rate. The choices are 32khz, 44.1khz, and 48khz.
Select output directory
Expand the "Output Directory" panel. Use the "Browse" button to select an output directory.
Convert
Click the "Convert" button on the tool bar.
